At Roofbase, we believe that supporting our customers goes beyond supplying quality roofing materials. That’s why we’re proud to announce that both Roofbase Cardiff and Roofbase Swansea are now official Lighthouse Beacons, in partnership with the Lighthouse Charity.

The Lighthouse Charity is the only UK charity dedicated to supporting the construction community and their families with emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing.

What Is a Lighthouse Beacon?

A Lighthouse Beacon is more than just a meeting place. It’s a safe, welcoming space where contractors, tradespeople, and anyone in the construction industry can connect, share, and access support. These spaces are designed to foster open conversations about wellbeing and to offer practical help when it’s needed most.

The construction sector faces unique pressures, with workers up to three times more likely to experience mental health challenges compared to other professions. The Lighthouse Charity provides a vital safety net, offering a 24/7 confidential helpline, emergency financial aid, and tailored advice on welfare and wellbeing. By becoming Lighthouse Beacons, our Cardiff and Swansea branches are helping to bring this support closer to the people who need it.

Meet Our Mental Health Ambassadors

Supporting the wellbeing of our customers and contractors is a top priority at Roofbase. That’s why Rachele Garrod, a certified Mental Health First Aider, and Lesley Hughes MIoR, our experienced Training Manager, will be visiting both branches to promote the Lighthouse Charity and provide direct mental health support and information.

Rachele brings a wealth of expertise in mental health training, delivering internationally recognised courses across Wales and England.

In addition to her role as the Roofbase Training Manager, Lesley is also Vice Chair at the National Roof Training Group, dedicated to upskilling roofing professionals and supporting their wellbeing.
